Whether you're creating a new page (as below) or editing an existing page, you need to populate a variety of fields and components.
Field means a box or space that you can write in, like the title field in the screenshot below.
Components are the blocks you choose to put on your webpage such as text block, inline image, video block etc.
This is a component-based site. You can’t just start writing in that big blank space. You have to
-
make sure the text format at the bottom is selected as components
-
select component(s) from the list at the top
Adding components
To add the next component (e.g. to add a quote or promoted block below a body text block), put cursor in the free space below the last component and select the next one from options at top of body block.
To add a new component between 2 existing ones, click the white space between the component blocks then click the arrow in the small red box that appears on the right of that space. That makes a space between the components where you can add a new one. This also works if you want to add a component above the top one.
NB it’s important that you add any extra components OUTSIDE existing ones. The only exception to this is inline image (which goes inside a text block).
You can use the same component more than once in the body block.
For example, if you need to put a component (e.g. a promoted block) in the middle of your body text, simply add the promoted block below the text block, then add another text block below the promoted block
Reordering components
You can’t drag&drop components but you can move them around by right-clicking (or 2-finger click on a macbook mousepad) the grey space at the top of a component and cut/pasting it above, below or between other components.
DO NOT paste a component into another component. The CMS will not stop you from doing this accidentally so be careful not to do it. All components (except inline media) have to sit separately in the body block.
See menu for a list of all fields and components and how to use them.
