This page is about adding and arranging pages on the main menu. If you need to add a page to the footer menu see Footer. Also bear in mind that the way menus display is being redesigned, so the following may need updating once menus are finalised.

To enable the user to navigate to your page on the website, e.g. as a child page of a page that’s already there, you need to add it as a link in the menu structure.

To do this:

Click the Groups tab in the top menu bar

In the operations column (right-hand side of screen), select the site whose menu you want to add something to, then select menu in the dropdown

Group menu in Drupal

On the main navigation row of the Menus page, click on the arrow in the operations column and select add link

On the Add menu link page, add the title of the page you want to add to the menu in the menu link title field. This field is for the title as it will appear in the menu. Normally it’ll be the title of the page in question, but not necessarily, for example if the page has a long title you can make it shorter for the menu

Start to type the actual page title in the Link field, It’ll suggest the title or give you a dropdown list. Click the title of the page you’re adding and title and node number will appear in this field.

Leave the Enabled box ticked (unless you want your page to be a hidden menu item).

NB for inside.barnardos only leave landing pages enabled. Untick everything else.

DO NOT add a short description of your page to the Description field.

Tick Show as expanded unless you want any child pages of this page to be hidden on the menu.

Ignore weighting for now.

Click Save.

Once your page is added to the menu you’ll need to move it into position.

Reordering pages in menu

If you’ve just added a new page to the menu, the next screen you see is the Edit menu page

If you haven’t just saved a new page to the menu but want to rearrange the menu anyway, go to Groups then Menus and click Edit menu in the operations column of the main navigation row

On the Edit menu page, select click the + symbol beside a page to drag and drop it up or down within a menu section, or to the right to make it a child page of the page above it, or to the left to make it a higher-level page, etc.

NB if you don’t see the + symbols you’re in row weights view - you can get out of this and be able to drag and drop menu items by clicking Hide row weights at top right of menu items list

When pages are ordered the way you want them to be, click Save at bottom of page.
