Select news as page type to get a news edit page.
In the news type dropdown, select news item, blog or press release as appropriate
Title
Keep the title short and frontloaded (the most salient words at the beginning). If your title is more than about 50 characters – including spaces – it's likely it will be truncated by Google and other search engines.
Banner settings
Barnardo's news items tend not to use banner descriptions or images, so for the sake of consistency, don't use them.
Text block
If you're using the heading field, DO NOT repeat what you've just said in the title.
If using the lead field, DO NOT repeat what you've just said in the heading field or title. In fact, it's better to just use one: either the heading or lead field – not both. Your reader would prefer you to get to the point.
In the body text, DO NOT repeat what you've just said in the title, heading or lead field. Repetition is a waste of space and annoying for readers.
Get the the point, use plain English and keep it short:
- short words
- short sentences
- short paragraphs
And if in doubt about spelling, hyphenation, capitalisation or any other style questions, use the style guide.
